Ari Atoll is a coral atoll in the Maldives, famous for its year-round whale shark and manta ray encounters. The tropical climate keeps water temperatures around 82°F (28°C), with the dry northeast monsoon from December to April offering calm seas for diving at Maaya Thila, and the wet southwest monsoon from May to November bringing plankton blooms that attract giant mantas to South Ari Atoll's cleaning stations. North Ari Atoll features more resort-lined reefs perfect for snorkeling, while South Ari is your best bet for spotting whale sharks any time of year.
